First, a reminder that you can still visit Blackheath Art Society’s summer exhibition at our gallery until Sunday, July 26th.
We’re open 10-5 this weekend for a chance to see the “Light”-infused works of this historic society’s present roster.

With a hot, hot summer in full flow, Gallery White Box presents a new exhibition of sun-warmed works from our regular artists and a few new friends. Most are local artists from Blackheath, Lee, Greenwich, Deptford and Southeast London, with a few visiting creators.
We carefully selected works that bring joy, reflection, or good memories of time and space through a range of naive, abstract, nostalgic, and handmade approaches to painting, collage, and ceramics.
As the gallery has very limited space, this summer exhibition will be spread across two chapters.
Volume 1, 31 July - 16 August

Pastel/Dry Media Taster Workshop with Kathleen Taylor

As part of the summer show, exhibiting artist Kathleen Taylor will introduce participants to the history, ideas, and practice of working with pastels and other dry media in image making.
This practical workshop will begin with a brief history of dry media/pastels in art from Lascaux cave paintings to chalk drawings of the Renaissance, covering the development of coloured pastels in the 18th century by Sennelier and famous artists who have worked in pastel, including Degas and Odilon Redon.
Students will be introduced to techniques and encouraged to experiment and produce their own works to take home.
The two-hour session costs £35.
Sunday 16th August, 2026, 4-6pm.
Kathleen Taylor is an artist who lives and works in South London. Her practice includes painting in oils and drawing mainly in pastels. She has recently exhibited with The Pastel Society at The Mall Galleries in London.
